The Journey Behind Arayko: From Childhood In Thailand To Premium Boxing Gear
Share
Every brand starts with a story. Ours began long before the first glove was stitched, in the humid gyms of Bangkok, and in the hearts of fighters who live and breathe Muay Thai.
Childhood in Thailand and the Spark of Passion
My name is Francesco Saggiante, and my love for Thailand started at a very young age. My aunt, half Thai and half Lao, brought me along on trips across Thailand and Laos, exposing me to a culture and sport that would shape my life forever. From an early age, I was captivated by the energy of the gyms, the discipline of the fighters, and the artistry behind every strike and movement.

Even as a child, I trained tirelessly, immersing myself in Muay Thai, and the passion only grew stronger as I returned to Thailand frequently, particularly Bangkok and Phuket. At the same time, I began my journey as an athlete in Italy, competing in tournaments, collecting victories, and learning firsthand what it truly means to fight with heart.

A Life-Changing Injury and the Birth of a Mission
One pivotal day during training, everything changed. I slipped while sparring and suffered a severe radius and ulna fracture, a painful reminder that the gear we use can make or break a fighter’s safety. The doctor noted that one of the main reasons for the injury was a low-quality glove that didn’t protect my wrist properly.
That moment became the turning point. I realized I wanted to create gear that truly protects athletes and respects the sport. While I could no longer compete professionally, my passion for Muay Thai never faded. I continued training, studying equipment, and dreaming of a brand that would merge quality, safety, and authenticity.

Inspiration from Love and Thai Tradition
During one of my trips to Thailand, I met my girlfriend, Aranya, who would become a lifelong partner and the inspiration for Arayko. She introduced me to the seven-headed Nāga, a mythological figure deeply tied to Thai monks and spiritual protection. Her father, a respected monk, showed me the cultural significance of the Nāga, sparking the vision that would shape the Arayko brand.
We moved to Korat, and I explored the Isaan region, visiting my girlfriend’s hometown of Mukdahan. Here, I was reminded of my lifelong desire to help others, supporting local communities and young fighters who lack access to proper equipment.

Crafting the First Line of Arayko Gear
Together with my girlfriend and a trusted graphic designer friend, we began designing the concept for our first line of gloves. I researched and connected with production partners who shared our vision for quality and durability, ensuring each glove met the highest standards without compromising design or performance.

Our first prototypes taught us invaluable lessons. The initial batch had minor defects in printing and coating. As someone who values perfection and quality, I couldn’t release them. I meticulously studied every glove from other brands, dissecting, testing, and perfecting until we finally developed the Naga Flame AGV1, a glove that embodies protection, comfort, and Thai-inspired artistry.

Expanding the Arayko Family
As the brand grew, we expanded into shorts, shin guards, and hand wraps, creating a full line of Muay Thai gear designed for both beginners and elite fighters. Every product reflects our commitment to craftsmanship, safety, and aesthetic identity, combining premium materials with careful attention to detail.
Even now, our journey is just beginning. Our mission is clear: protect and support fighters worldwide, giving them gear that allows them to train, compete, and follow their dreams safely, something I wish I had in my early days.
